B. Shivadhar Reddy, an esteemed IPS officer from the 1994 batch, officially took over as the new Director General of Police for Telangana on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. He marks the sixth individual to hold this significant position in the state, succeeding Jitender, who served for 15 months.
Reddy previously held the crucial role as the first Chief of the Intelligence Department in Telangana, where he was an Inspector General. He is notably recognized for orchestrating the successful operation in 2016 that led to the neutralization of notorious gangster Nayeemuddin, also known as Nayeem. His expertise in intelligence work brought him back to this key department under the Congress Government in December 2023, initially as an Additional DGP, before being promoted to Director General in August 2024.
His appointment as Director General of Police (Coordination) was formally announced by the Government on September 26, 2025. Additionally, he has been entrusted with the full additional charge as Director General of Police (Head of Police Force).
