Ayodhya has officially etched its name in the Guinness World Records, illuminating the banks of the Saryu River with an astounding 2,617,215 diyas as part of its grand Deepotsav 2025 celebrations. This monumental achievement, organized by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department in collaboration with the Ayodhya District Administration, saw over 30,000 dedicated volunteers, comprising students from universities and colleges, participate in lighting and meticulously arranging the lamps. Each diya was placed with precision to ensure accurate verification by Guinness World Records representatives.
The festivities also included the largest-ever Saryu Aarti, with 2,128 devotees performing the sacred ritual on the evening of October 17th. The scale and beauty of the event were recognized by Guinness World Records adjudicator Richard Stenning, who remarked on the “amazing display” and the continuous growth of the event each year, calling it a “truly spectacular and incredible” achievement.
Adding to the grandeur, the Deepotsav featured a captivating drone show over Ram Ki Paidi, depicting iconic visuals of Lord Hanuman, Lord Shri Ram, Dhanush, and Ravana. A Ram Leela performance, accompanied by a stunning laser and light show, further enchanted the attendees. The ghats, brightly lit by countless diyas and vibrant lights, created a magical atmosphere, making Deepotsav a celebration of immense joy and national pride across Ayodhya.
