Aster DM Healthcare proudly inaugurated its newest and eighth hospital in Kerala: the cutting-edge Aster MIMS Kasaragod. This impressive 264-bed facility, an investment of ₹190 crore, was officially opened by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Also present at the momentous occasion were Dr. Azad Moopen, founder and chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, and Karnataka Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dinesh Gundu Rao.
During his inaugural address, Chief Minister Vijayan highlighted Aster’s remarkable journey, evolving from a single clinic in Dubai into a comprehensive and trusted healthcare network across India and the GCC. He expressed confidence that these high standards of excellence would now significantly benefit the residents of Kasaragod. Karnataka Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao further emphasized how Aster’s expanding presence strengthens the overall healthcare infrastructure in both Kerala and Karnataka.
Dr. Azad Moopen described the Kasaragod hospital as a pivotal moment for Aster. He reiterated, ‘Our core mission has always been to provide quality healthcare that is both affordable and easily accessible. With this brand-new facility, we are committed to bringing world-class medical care closer to the communities of Northern Kerala.’
Spanning an expansive 2.1 lakh square feet, this modern hospital boasts 31 distinct medical specialties and employs a dedicated team of over 600 professionals, including 60 doctors with international training. It’s set to revolutionize regional healthcare by introducing advanced diagnostic technologies like 1.5T MRI and 160-Slice CT scans. Patients will also have access to highly specialized services such as ECMO/ECL support, state-of-the-art cardiac and vascular interventions, and hemadsorption treatment, with a particular emphasis on critical care, trauma, stroke, and pediatric emergencies.
The hospital’s infrastructure is designed for comprehensive care, featuring 44 ICU beds, 16 NICU beds, 7 major and 2 minor operating theatres, and dedicated units for chemotherapy and dialysis. A 20-bed emergency department, complete with 24/7 ambulance services, ensures rapid and life-saving interventions when every second counts.
The grand launch ceremony saw participation from various dignitaries, including Kasaragod MP Rajmohan Unnithan, local MLAs, and other esteemed public representatives and officials, underscoring the community’s anticipation and support for this new healthcare landmark.
