AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi is making concerted efforts to ensure the safe return of four Indian citizens who are reportedly stranded in Russia. These individuals are facing a dire situation, allegedly being drawn into the Russia-Ukraine war.
The individuals identified are Mohammad Ahmad from Hyderabad, and Anoop Kumar, Manoj Kumar, and Sumit Kumar from Haryana and Rajasthan.
Owaisi’s Proactive Engagement
According to information from his party, Owaisi has once again reached out to senior officials within the Ministry of External Affairs, including the Foreign Secretary, on Thursday. This demonstrates his ongoing commitment to engaging with Indian authorities to resolve the issue.
Furthermore, he has communicated with Miss Tudu Mamu, Counsellor at the Indian Embassy in Moscow, urging swift intervention to facilitate the return of the four men to India.
The AIMIM has shared a video showing Owaisi in conversation with the Foreign Secretary and offering comfort to the families of those affected.
Earlier, Owaisi had appealed to the Indian government to expedite the repatriation of these stranded nationals. He mentioned that the Foreign Secretary’s office had assured full cooperation and was actively working on their return.
Owaisi shared that a young man from Hyderabad, who had gone to Russia under the guise of a job, found himself embroiled in the Ukraine war and stranded. After contacting the Foreign Secretary’s office, the family received confirmation of his predicament and ongoing efforts for his return. It was subsequently revealed that three other individuals – Anup Kumar, Manoj Kumar, and Sumit Kumar – are also in a similar situation, with two hailing from Haryana and one from Rajasthan.
The Plight of the Stranded Indians
Mohammad Ahmad, Anoop Kumar, Manoj Kumar, and Sumit Kumar have found themselves trapped in Russia, allegedly forced to participate in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Mohammad Ahmad has reportedly sustained injuries on the front lines and has sent video appeals to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) seeking urgent assistance for his safe return.
Owaisi stated that the young men were allegedly deceived into signing contracts under false pretenses of employment opportunities. He has appealed to the Minister of External Affairs, S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and the Indian Embassy in Russia to prioritize and facilitate their safe repatriation.
