Speaking in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, November 1, 2025, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi affirmed that India’s Operation Sindoor was executed with a strategic blend of principles and advanced technology. He emphasized that the operation specifically avoided targeting civilians or Pakistan’s military installations.
General Dwivedi clarified to reporters that the Indian forces’ objective was solely the destruction of terrorist infrastructure within the neighboring country.
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. The precise strikes focused on terrorist strongholds in Pakistani-controlled territories, leading to four days of intense engagements. These clashes concluded on May 10, following an understanding to cease military actions.
The Army Chief highlighted the success of Operation Sindoor, attributing it to a powerful combination of ethical guidelines and technological prowess. He stated, “We ensured that no innocent civilians in Pakistan were harmed. Our actions were strictly against terrorists and their leadership.”
General Dwivedi also urged all citizens to contribute towards nation-building, striving for a developed India by 2047.
Later, while addressing students at his alma mater, Rewa Sainik School, General Dwivedi reiterated that Indian forces meticulously avoided conducting any operations during prayer times or namaz during Operation Sindoor.
He concluded by saying, “We targeted only areas with a confirmed presence of terrorists, carefully steering clear of innocent civilians or defense facilities. Operation Sindoor achieved its goals, sending a clear message to Pakistan that our approach is fundamentally different from theirs.”
