Arjun Prasad, the leader coming into the day, continued his impressive run at the Tamil Nadu Open. Playing at the par-72 Coimbatore Golf Club course in Chettipalayam, the Delhi golfer carded a fantastic four-under 68 on Thursday, extending his dominance for the second consecutive day in the prestigious ₹1 crore tournament, proudly presented by SIPCOT and TANCEM.
Having previously posted steady two-under 70s in the initial rounds, Arjun adopted a strategic ‘one shot at a time’ approach. Despite an early bogey on the third hole, which followed a birdie on the second, he maintained his composure and focused intensely. His efforts paid off handsomely on the back-nine, where he delivered five crucial birdies. This strong performance brought his three-day total to an outstanding eight-under 208, securing him a comfortable six-shot lead heading into the final round.
At 26 years old, and currently ranked second in the 2025 PGTI Order of Merit, Prasad is now in a prime position to claim his very first professional title. His consistent play and mental fortitude have set him apart from the competition, and all eyes will be on him as he attempts to close out the tournament.
Reflecting on his round, Arjun shared, “I had a great start and then settled into a solid rhythm, keeping the ball precisely in play with a series of pars. As I approached the back-nine, I started hitting my approach shots much closer to the pins, which directly led to more birdies. My tee shots have been excellent, creating numerous opportunities on the greens. For the final round, my plan is simple: replicate this performance and stick to the fundamental aspects of my game.”
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s N. Thangaraja, a seasoned player familiar with the Coimbatore course, showcased his local knowledge with a strong round of 69. This propelled him up six places, ending the day in a tie for second at two-under 214.
Joining Thangaraja in second place is Noida’s Arjun Sharma, who moved up four spots with a round of 70, bringing his totals to 72, 72, and 70. Also tied for second is Delhi’s Anshul Kabthiyal, the 20-year-old delivering a 71 to climb three positions, making for an exciting chase for the runner-up spots.
