Annamayya District Collector Nishant Kumar recently issued clear directives to Roads and Buildings (R&B) officials, urging them to significantly expedite the ongoing Chitvel–Railway Kodur road widening project. He stressed that all work must strictly adhere to rigorous quality standards.
During a recent inspection near Railway Kodur, the Collector meticulously assessed the project’s current status and the quality of workmanship. Contractors and R&B engineers briefed him, confirming that 63% of the ₹35.3 crore project has been successfully completed, with an expenditure of ₹17.3 crore to date. Key achievements highlighted include the construction of 25 culverts and various concrete structures, the laying of 2.7 km of concrete cement (CC) road, and the ongoing blacktopping of a 10-km stretch.
Collector Kumar underscored the immense benefits this widened road would bring to the residents of the Rajampeta division. He particularly noted its potential to significantly boost the rural economy, especially given the region’s vibrant horticulture sector, which stands to gain considerably from improved connectivity.
