Television star Anita Hassanandani, recently celebrated for her win on the reality show ‘Chhoriyan Chali Gaon,’ shared candid insights into the financial shifts in the television industry. After a four-year break from daily soaps, Hassanandani returned with ‘Suman Indori,’ but found herself accepting a reduced remuneration compared to her earlier projects.
In a recent podcast, she elaborated on the industry’s evolving financial landscape, noting that reduced budgets and the availability of actors willing to work for lower fees have become common. “TV actors don’t get paid as much as they used to,” she explained, attributing this to the proliferation of shows and the general economic climate. She added that the post-COVID era, in particular, saw many productions citing budget constraints due to pandemic-related losses, which directly impacted actor salaries.
Despite the pay cut, Hassanandani prioritized returning to work, highlighting that her primary motivation was career re-engagement rather than immediate financial gain. Her recent work includes appearances in ‘Naagin 6’ and ‘Hum Rahein Na Rahein Hum’ before her full comeback with ‘Suman Indori’ in 2024. She also emerged victorious in ‘Chhoriyan Chali Gaon,’ a reality show that tested celebrities’ adaptability to rural life through various tasks.
