Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is championing a comprehensive reorganization of districts across the state, with a clear mandate: to ensure administrative ease and truly resonate with the diverse aspirations of its citizens.
During a pivotal review meeting held at the Secretariat on Tuesday, October 28, with the Cabinet sub-committee dedicated to district reorganization, the Chief Minister issued directives to all officials and ministers. Their primary task is to meticulously address and rectify the numerous issues that emerged from what he termed the previous government’s ‘unscientific’ district formations, while diligently working to prevent any new complications from arising.
It was noted during the meeting that a seven-member Cabinet sub-committee was initially established on July 22 to thoroughly examine this crucial matter. The gathering saw the presence of prominent figures including Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Ministers Anagani Satyaprasad, Narayana, Nadendla Manohar, Satyakumar, Anitha, Nimmala Rama Naidu, and B.C. Janardhan Reddy. These ministers presented a preliminary report, affirming that their findings were the result of extensive consultations with district collectors, local public representatives, and the general populace.
Chief Minister Naidu didn’t shy away from critiquing the previous administration’s hasty and ill-conceived decisions, asserting that they led to significant regional disparities and a blatant disregard for public sentiment. He emphasized that the current reorganization must thoughtfully factor in the future delimitation of Assembly constituencies, requiring a corresponding restructuring of revenue divisions. Furthermore, officials are tasked with a critical study of villages submerged post-Polavaram project completion, ensuring their rightful and appropriate inclusion in new revenue divisions and constituencies.
Among the key considerations, Naidu highlighted the long-standing public demand for the creation of Markapur district, confirming that this proposal would receive serious attention as an integral part of the broader reorganization initiative. Concluding the session, Mr. Naidu announced that the Cabinet sub-committee is scheduled to reconvene within a week to further deliberate on the proposals, incorporating all fresh inputs and observations gleaned from this detailed review.
