The Andhra Pradesh government is on the verge of a groundbreaking partnership with Google, poised to establish a monumental 1-gigawatt data center in Visakhapatnam. The pivotal agreement is scheduled to be signed during Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to New Delhi on October 14.
During a press briefing at his camp office on Sunday, Chief Minister Naidu emphasized the significance of this venture, noting it represents one of the largest investments by the California-based technology giant in India. This facility is expected to be a game-changer for the region.
This cutting-edge Google data center is envisioned to transform Visakhapatnam, often referred to as the Port City, into a leading global data hub. More importantly, it will provide a substantial boost to the government’s ambitious projects in Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a target completion date set for late 2029.
Recognizing the ever-increasing influence of AI across industries and daily life, the Chief Minister also announced plans to update educational curricula. The goal is to equip the youth with the necessary skills and knowledge, ensuring they are well-prepared for future job markets driven by AI advancements.
Naidu highlighted that this Google facility, alongside other significant industrial projects such as the Arcelor Mittal-Nippon Steel plant in Anakapalli district and the upcoming BPCL refinery at Ramayapatnam, will collectively propel Andhra Pradesh towards becoming a highly prosperous state in the coming years.
