Tourism, Culture, and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh announced on Tuesday the government’s unwavering commitment to revitalizing folk arts across the state, with robust support from the Central government.
This exciting declaration came during the oath-taking ceremony of V. Gangulayya, who officially took office as the new Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Folk Arts and Creative Academy. A highlight of the Minister’s address was the news that a prestigious National School of Drama is slated to be established in Rajamahendravaram, promising a new era for performing arts in the region.
Further emphasizing the government’s dedication, Mr. Durgesh detailed plans to introduce folk arts into school and college curricula, ensuring these rich traditions are passed down to future generations. Moreover, a much-anticipated measure will see the restoration of pensions for artists, providing crucial support to those who dedicate their lives to these invaluable cultural forms.
