The Andhra Pradesh Tenant Farmers’ Association has issued a pressing call to the State government, urging the swift conclusion of the e-crop registration process for temple lands cultivated by tenant farmers.
In a statement released on Monday, Association President V. Radhakrishna and General Secretary M. Haribabu highlighted that many tenant farmers have already secured temple lands through auctions and commenced cultivation. They emphasized that significant financial investments have already been made, with farmers taking out loans for nursery preparation, weeding, and the application of fertilizers. Despite these efforts and the passage of over four months, the crucial e-crop registration for these temple lands has yet to begin.
The leaders expressed deep concern that without proper e-crop registration, farmers working on temple lands will be ineligible for essential agricultural resources such as subsidized fertilizers and pesticides, comprehensive crop insurance, and even compensation in the event of crop damage. They implored the government to instruct the Endowments, Revenue, and Agriculture departments to collaborate effectively and ensure the e-crop process is completed without any further delays.
It was further noted by the association leaders that repeated appeals to both officials and the government have regrettably gone unanswered, a situation they described as profoundly unjust. They issued a stern warning: if the e-crop registration is not finalized promptly, tenant farmers on temple lands will face severe financial devastation. The government, they cautioned, would be held directly accountable for any future protests or agitations that farmers might be compelled to undertake.
