Good news for adventurers and nature lovers! The Andhra Pradesh Tourism department, in collaboration with the Department of Ports, has given the green light for 34 tourist boats to operate on the majestic Godavari River. These boats will ferry visitors between Rajamahendravaram and the enchanting Papikonda Hill Range, promising unforgettable scenic journeys. Among these, two boats will be managed directly by the AP Tourism Development Corporation.
To ensure passenger safety, strict scrutiny by both the Department of Ports and Irrigation authorities is a must. All boat operators are required to adhere to a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedure, meticulously designed to prevent any accidents. Furthermore, the Irrigation department will regularly provide crucial navigational route guidance to the operators, keeping them informed of the river’s conditions.
Ch. Pavan Kumar, Godavari Regional Director for the Tourism Department, confirmed, “A total of 34 boats have received permission to operate on the Godavari River, specifically between Rajamahendravaram and the Papikonda Hill Range. Of these, 15 boats will set sail from the Gandipochamma temple point, while the remaining 17 will depart from Pochavaram.” He added that operations commenced on October 11, with the understanding that services could be temporarily suspended at any time if weather alerts necessitate it.
