In a compassionate move following recent cyclone devastation, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on Friday a significant ex-gratia payment of ₹4 lakh for each of the four families who tragically lost loved ones in the North Andhra region.
During a review, officials updated the Chief Minister on the fatalities, confirming four deaths: one in Kancharapalem (Visakhapatnam), two in Mandasa (Srikakulam district), and another in Kurupam (Parvatipuram-Manyam district).
Convening a videoconference with district Collectors from the impacted areas, Chief Minister Naidu issued immediate directives for the swift restoration of power and the urgent repair of damaged road networks.
Officials also highlighted the critical situation at Gotta Barrage, Tatapalli, and the Vamsadhara river, all experiencing dangerously heavy inflows as persistent floods continued to surge.
Mr. Naidu further instructed a rapid assessment of agricultural losses and mandated immediate action to replenish depleted reservoirs. He underscored the paramount importance of conducting all relief operations with a deeply humanitarian approach, ensuring that aid reaches the affected population swiftly and effectively.
