Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha recently chaired a crucial meeting to assess the state’s readiness for the impending Cyclone ‘Montha’. The review, held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, involved top officials from various key departments.
During her visit to the A.P. State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) office in Tadepalli, Ms. Anitha meticulously reviewed the unfolding situation with APSDMA Managing Director Prakhar Jain.
Addressing the officials, the Home Minister issued a stern directive to all District Collectors and Nodal Officers: maintain heightened vigilance and implement every possible measure to safeguard lives.
She highlighted the forecast for heavy rainfall across the state on October 27, 28, and 29, as Cyclone ‘Montha’ is projected to make landfall within the next 48 hours. She emphasized the critical need for District Collectors to immediately alert and evacuate residents in vulnerable coastal regions.
Furthermore, Nodal Officers were tasked with the swift relocation of villagers to secure shelters, and a strong advisory was issued to fishermen, urging them to avoid venturing into the sea.
NDRF Teams Mobilized
V.V.N. Prasanna Kumar, Commandant of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) 10th Battalion, confirmed that specialized teams have already been strategically deployed to several districts, including Nellore, Kakinada, Konaseema, and Srikakulam, anticipating the cyclone’s impact.
Commandant Kumar assured the public that additional NDRF teams are on standby, equipped with essential life-saving gear, ready to be dispatched to any areas affected by the cyclone. He reiterated that detailed instructions have been provided to all deployed NDRF teams to ensure seamless coordination with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local Disaster Management units, Revenue Department officials, District Collectors, Joint Collectors, and other key personnel. This collaborative effort aims to streamline all aspects of disaster response and relief operations.
