In a significant recognition of its dedicated efforts towards sanitation and hygiene, Anantapur district has been named the ‘Best Swachha District’ across Andhra Pradesh. The esteemed State-level Swachha Andhra awards will be presented by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at a special ceremony scheduled for Monday in Vijayawada.
Anantapur District Collector O. Anand will proudly accept the Swachha District Award-2025 on behalf of the district. Mr. Anand extended his heartfelt congratulations to all stakeholders, including district and village-level officials, tireless sanitation workers, elected representatives, and the invaluable non-governmental organizations whose collaborative spirit made this achievement possible. He emphasized that this accolade truly reflects the collective cooperation and hard work of the entire district’s population.
Beyond Anantapur’s top honor, several other entities were also celebrated for their contributions to a cleaner Andhra Pradesh. Tadipatri Municipality, also located in Anantapur district, secured an award in the ‘Swaccha Municipalities’ category for towns with populations ranging from one to three lakhs. Furthermore, the SS Palm Tree Villas Association in Kurnool was recognized with the ‘Swachha Colonies’ award for its exceptional cleanliness initiatives. Demonstrating a powerful community spirit, the Nandyal-based NGO ‘Mana Ooru, Mana Gudi, Mana Bhadyatha’ (Our Village, Our Temple, Our Responsibility) received the ‘Best Swachha NGO’ award for its commendable efforts in cleaning temples, temple ponds, and other public spaces throughout the state.
