Anantapur District Collector O. Anand has issued a clear directive to officials: launch widespread awareness campaigns to highlight the advantages of the innovative ‘Super GST – Super Savings’ scheme.
During a crucial review meeting with key personnel, including Joint Collector Shiv Narayan Sharma and Deputy Commissioner (Commercial Taxes) Bhaskar Valli, Collector Anand emphasized the critical need to effectively communicate the new GST 2.0 reforms, unveiled by both Central and State governments on September 22. This communication is particularly vital for the middle and lower-income segments of the population.
The Collector further detailed the month-long initiative, which commenced on September 25 and is scheduled to conclude on October 19. Joint Collector Shiv Narayan Sharma will serve as the primary nodal officer, overseeing daily operations. Commercial Tax Officers are tasked with collaborating closely with Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDOs) and local municipal staff to ensure ground-level implementation. To facilitate monitoring, a dedicated control room has been established in Anantapur, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad, alongside the District Panchayat Officer, will integrate all related activities.
This comprehensive campaign is structured into four distinct phases: the first week will concentrate on outreach at the village level; the second week will focus on programs through agriculture and allied departments; the third week will see active participation from municipal, panchayat raj, social welfare, and education departments; and the final phase, from October 16-19, will involve initiatives from tourism, transport, and power departments.
Additionally, a specialized session for the medical sector will include hospitals conducting dedicated GST awareness camps. Collector Anand underscored the campaign’s ultimate goal: ‘The message of this campaign must resonate with every household and sector, ensuring that everyone fully comprehends the substantial savings and diverse benefits offered by GST 2.0.’
