During a public rally in Darbhanga on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a sharp critique against the INDIA bloc. He specifically targeted Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, claiming their aspirations were to elevate their respective sons, Tejashwi Yadav to Bihar’s Chief Ministership and Rahul Gandhi to Prime Minister. Shah emphatically stated that both these prominent positions are currently occupied.
Speaking to the crowd in Darbhanga, Bihar, Shah branded the Mahagatbandhan (Grand Alliance) as a ‘thug bandhan’ (alliance of cheats). He accused Lalu Prasad of complicity in various corruption scandals, including the infamous fodder, bitumen, and land-for-jobs scams. Furthermore, he alleged that the Congress party was embroiled in corruption cases totaling an astonishing ₹12 lakh crore.
Shah also mentioned the Central government’s decisive action against the radical organization PFI, confirming that its members have been arrested and assuring the public that the NDA government would ensure they remain incarcerated.
He then challenged the audience, questioning whether the RJD would maintain the ban on PFI members and keep them imprisoned if they were to assume power in Bihar.
Highlighting the NDA government’s welfare initiatives, Shah enumerated several benefits provided to the people of Bihar, including free rations for 8.52 crore individuals, the establishment of the Makhana Board, and 125 units of free electricity for household consumers.
He further promised development projects for Darbhanga, including the imminent construction of a metro rail system, while noting the existing airport and an AIIMS hospital currently under construction.
The BJP leader also announced the construction of a Goddess Sita temple in Mithila, adding that all sacred sites associated with her journey would be integrated into the broader Ram circuit.
He proudly stated that the NDA government has granted official status to the Maithili language and ensured its inclusion through a constitutional translation. Additionally, a ₹500-crore center is being built in the region dedicated to the preservation of ancient manuscripts.
