Union Home Minister Amit Shah intensified the political discourse in Bihar on Saturday, September 27, 2025, by accusing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD president Lalu Prasad of attempting to “secure voting rights for infiltrators.”
During a spirited conclave with BJP workers in Bihar’s Araria district, Shah declared his firm resolve to expel every single undocumented resident from the state. He asserted this would be a priority if the NDA coalition achieves a resounding two-thirds majority in the imminent Assembly elections.
The former BJP president specifically referenced Rahul Gandhi’s recent “Voter Adhikar Yatra,” stating, “Rahul baba took out a Yatra here recently. The purpose was to oppose special intensive revision of electoral rolls by the Election Commission, which wants to remove infiltrators’ names from voters’ list.” This Yatra saw Gandhi, accompanied by Lalu Prasad’s son and political heir Tejashwi Yadav, traverse 1,300 kilometers across 25 districts.
“Rahul baba, Lalu and company want to secure voting rights for infiltrators. I want to ask all you workers from the Seemanchal region, should we allow this?” Shah passionately questioned the BJP cadres, eliciting a resounding “no” from the audience, particularly from the northeastern part of Bihar, which is home to a significant Muslim population.
Making a powerful campaign promise, the Union Home Minister, widely recognized as the BJP’s chief strategist, proclaimed, “I promise you that each and every infiltrator will be driven out of Bihar if the NDA wins with a two thirds majority, with a tally of 160 plus seats.” The Election Commission is anticipated to announce the polling dates for the 243-seat Bihar assembly in the near future.
Shah also acknowledged the party’s previous strong performance in the region during the last assembly polls, urging workers to “strive to do better this time. Only then the target of 160 plus can be achieved.”
Furthermore, he lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, highlighting its eleven-year tenure without a single charge of “misappropriation of even 25 paise,” a stark contrast, he claimed, to the corruption allegations faced by the previous Congress-led UPA government.
Shah reinforced the Modi government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises, citing the abrogation of Article 370 and the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya as examples. He also mentioned the ongoing construction of a “big temple of goddess Sita” in Bihar and the recently completed airport at Purnea, from where he was scheduled to depart, as further evidence of promises delivered.
His two-day visit to the state also included strategic discussions with BJP workers in Bettiah (West Champaran district) and Sarairanjan (Samastipur), culminating in a motivational address to senior state leaders at the BJP headquarters in Patna. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the party’s in-charge for the upcoming assembly polls, and BJP national general secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santhosh were also present during these crucial meetings.
