Police in Alwar district, Rajasthan, have successfully arrested a man accused of acting as a spy for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI.
The accused, identified as Mangat Singh, appeared before a special court in Jaipur on Saturday, October 11, 2025. He has been remanded into police custody for three days following his arrest on Friday, October 10.
Investigations reveal that Singh, a resident of Govindgarh in Alwar, had maintained contact with a female Pakistani handler for the past two years. He is alleged to have shared sensitive information concerning Indian military movements via social media.
A public prosecutor stated, “He was in contact with the handler, whose numbers he had saved under aliases such as ‘Isha Sharma’ and ‘Isha Boss’. He reportedly shared numerous photos and videos related to Army and BSF movements, specifically from the Alwar Cantonment and Ambala Cantonment areas.”
Financial records suggest that Singh allegedly received over ₹10,000 in multiple transactions from Pakistan in exchange for the information. His mobile phone also contained sensitive communications, including coded messages that alluded to troop movements prior to ‘Operation Sindoor’.
Singh, employed at an Alwar factory, was locally known as a ‘Siddh Purush’ (a spiritual figure) and frequently participated in religious events. This reputation, officials noted, enabled him to establish trust with both defence personnel and civilians.
“He leveraged religious gatherings to earn people’s confidence. During this period, he engaged with several Army and BSF personnel,” the public prosecutor added. Agencies are now preparing to interrogate individuals who may have interacted with Singh.
He was initially detained by the intelligence unit of the Rajasthan Police. Following extensive interrogation by various intelligence agencies, he was formally arrested on Friday under the Official Secrets Act.
