The Allahabad High Court has mandated that Samajwadi Party MP Mohibbullah Nadvi, representing Rampur, must consistently provide monthly maintenance to his fourth wife or face legal repercussions. Additionally, Justice Subhash Chandra Sharma has directed the matter to the High Court’s mediation center to seek an amicable resolution for the matrimonial dispute.
The court has granted a three-month period for reaching a settlement and has ordered Nadvi to deposit ₹55,000. From this amount, ₹30,000 per month will be allocated to his wife as maintenance.
This directive follows a plea filed by Nadvi challenging an order dated April 1, 2024, issued by the Additional Principal Judge of the family court in Agra.
During the court proceedings, Nadvi’s counsel stated that the dispute is matrimonial in nature and that the MP intends to settle it amicably. The court acknowledged these submissions, expressing satisfaction that mediation could offer a path to resolution.
However, the court issued a stern warning in its September 11 order: failure to make the required deposit, pay the current maintenance, or if the mediation process proves unsuccessful, the interim order will be automatically revoked.
