In a significant legal development, the Allahabad High Court recently granted bail to Umar Ansari, the younger son of the late gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari. The case against him involves serious allegations of forgery.
Ansari stands accused of using fabricated documents and allegedly forging his mother, Afsa Ansari’s, signature. These fraudulent actions were reportedly aimed at securing the release of a property in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, which had previously been seized under the stringent Gangster Act.
Justice Gautam Chaudhary, presiding over the case, delivered the order on Ansari’s bail application. Earlier, he had been apprehended by Mohammadabad Police in Lucknow in connection with this case, leading to his judicial custody. Following an initial rejection of his bail plea by a lower district court, Ansari escalated his appeal to the High Court, which has now granted him relief.
