In a dramatic midnight incident at the Punjab National Bank (PNB) ATM located near Punkunnam railway station in Thrissur, a potential theft was successfully prevented thanks to a highly responsive security alarm system.
The event unfolded around 12:30 AM on Sunday. Surveillance footage captured a masked individual approaching the ATM counter, seemingly from the direction of the railway station. The suspect then attempted to force open the cash machine using a metal cutter.
However, the moment the perpetrator began tampering with the ATM, its integrated security alarm was activated. The piercing siren immediately sent a notification to both the local police and the bank manager. Startled and caught off guard by the blaring alert, the would-be thief quickly abandoned the attempt, escaping the scene without managing to steal any money.
Following the alert, police teams swiftly arrived at the site. They have since collected forensic evidence and are meticulously analyzing the CCTV footage as part of an ongoing investigation to identify and apprehend the suspect.
