Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav on Friday invoked Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to attack the RSS, stating that the organization was previously banned by the former home minister. During a press conference in Lucknow, Yadav asserted that the Hindu Mahasabha and the RSS faced a ban due to their alleged involvement in Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination. This refers to a ban on the RSS in the late 1940s, which was later rescinded.
Humorously targeting the RSS, Yadav advised, “You can check on ChatGPT why Sardar Patel banned the RSS.” He further elaborated, “Hindu Mahasabha and RSS both were banned as they had an alleged role in the killing of Mahatama Gandhi. This is as per ChatGPT.”
These comments were made on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Vallabhbhai Patel.
Yadav continued, alleging that the RSS was banned for promoting communal hatred and violence, adding, “Don’t blame me, this is what ChatGPT says.” He also mentioned that the ban on the RSS was eventually lifted following a written assurance.
Reflecting on Vallabhbhai Patel’s legacy, the SP leader pledged that if his party comes to power, they would ensure a university is established in his name.
