An Air India flight, AI-154, en route from Vienna to Delhi, experienced an unscheduled diversion to Dubai on Thursday. The airline cited a “technical issue” as the reason for the diversion. Specifically, sources revealed that the Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s autopilot system disconnected during the flight while cruising at an altitude of 39,000 feet. This disconnection was accompanied by failures in the auto-flight function, including issues with GLS, FDs, Autothrottle, Flight Control System, and the inability to perform an auto-land or re-engage the autopilot.
Following the malfunction, the flight crew informed Air Traffic Control (ATC) and made the decision to land in Dubai. The aircraft landed safely, and the technical issues were rectified before the flight continued its journey to Delhi. Air India has officially stated that the flight landed safely and that passengers were kept informed and provided with refreshments during the delay. The airline also categorically denied any electrical failure, emphasizing that passenger and crew safety remains their top priority.
