As part of the vibrant Dasara festivities, the Shivamogga City Corporation recently hosted a series of engaging eating competitions. These popular events saw enthusiastic participation from both employees of Mescom and the general public, vying for top honors in both idli and banana eating challenges.
The banana eating challenge was particularly thrilling among women employees. Mescom officer Janaki showcased an impressive appetite, finishing eight bananas in just two minutes to claim the first prize. Close behind, Vishalakshi P. secured second place by consuming seven bananas.
For the public, the women’s banana eating contest was a highlight, with 15 participants demonstrating their speed. Dhanalakshmi, a local resident, emerged victorious by devouring a remarkable 11 bananas, while B.G. Geeta earned the second position with 10 bananas.
The men’s category featured an equally competitive idli eating showdown. Rakesh Gowda from Mescom clinched the first prize among his colleagues, rapidly consuming 10 idlis in two minutes, followed by Sandeep with five. In the open public segment, city resident Madan powered through 10 idlis to secure the top spot.
The festivities and competitions, celebrated under the banner of Ahara Dasara, were officially inaugurated by Shivamogga MLA S.N. Channabasappa, adding to the grandeur of the event.
