Prominent actor Unni Mukundan has received a court summons, requiring his appearance before the Kakkanad First Class Judicial Magistrate Court on October 27. This summons relates to a case filed by the Infopark police concerning the alleged assault of his former manager.
The legal proceedings began on May 26, 2025, following a petition lodged by Vipin Kumar. As detailed in the First Information Report (FIR), the alleged incident of assault transpired in the basement parking area of an apartment complex in Kakkanad, which was Mr. Kumar’s residence.
Reports indicate that the confrontation stemmed from Mr. Kumar’s positive review of a recent Malayalam film, where another actor held the lead role. According to the FIR, Mr. Mukundan called Mr. Kumar to the basement parking area, where he allegedly assaulted him, prevented him from leaving, issued death threats, and subjected him to verbal abuse.
In the course of their investigation, police officials thoroughly reviewed CCTV footage and collected statements from various witnesses. The case has been registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including 115(2) for voluntarily causing hurt, 126(2) for wrongful restraint, 296(b) for uttering obscene words or songs in public, 351(2) for criminal intimidation, and 324 for mischief.
