The political arena in Telangana is abuzz with the unexpected entry of Aditya, the grandson of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR). This marks the third generation of the influential family stepping into public life, following Aditya’s mother, MLC and Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha.
Aditya drew considerable attention when he joined his mother at a Telangana Jagruthi protest. This state-wide ‘BC Bandh’ was organized to demand 42% reservations for Backward Classes. His presence was particularly noteworthy as he recently returned from studies abroad.
Previously, Aditya had maintained a low public profile. However, during the protest, he was actively engaged, raising slogans and interacting with activists. Dressed casually and exuding confidence, his demeanor garnered both admiration and curiosity from those present.
An engineering graduate from the United States, Aditya, like his mother who retains her paternal surname, uses his father’s surname, Devanapally. Those close to the family observe that he possesses a natural ease with the public, a trait he shares with his maternal uncle, K.T. Rama Rao.
While his interest in politics seems evident, family sources indicate that Aditya plans to pursue his Master’s degree in the USA before committing to a full-time political career in India. His recent public appearance might have been coincidental rather than a meticulously planned launch. Nevertheless, considering Ms. Kavitha’s ambitions, Aditya is likely being prepared for future leadership within the party, especially since his cousin (KTR’s son) has not yet displayed significant political aspirations.
With her own political journey sometimes diverging from her father, Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao, Ms. Kavitha appears keen to solidify her position and influence within the family’s political landscape. Aditya’s emergence as a supportive figure alongside her could be a strategic move to reinforce her authority and shape the future direction of the BRS.
