Education transcends the confines of textbooks and classrooms, asserted Shivamogga MP B.Y. Raghavendra. He articulated this insightful perspective during the inauguration of a two-day education conference held at Kumadvathi College of Education in Shikaripur. Raghavendra emphasized that the true purpose of learning is to ignite a child’s natural curiosity, encouraging them to think critically, ask probing questions, foster imagination, and develop robust problem-solving skills for life’s complexities.
Highlighting the continuous evolution of pedagogy, Mr. Raghavendra stressed the imperative for educational methods to integrate advanced technologies and the latest research findings. Addressing common concerns about Artificial Intelligence, he reassured attendees that while AI might reshape various job sectors, the irreplaceable human connection and guidance provided by teachers in the classroom will always remain paramount.
Adding another layer to this progressive discourse, Kuvempu University Vice-Chancellor Sharath Ananthamurthy delivered a keynote address that resonated with Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy. He elucidated that a teacher’s fundamental role is not merely to impart knowledge, but to facilitate the discovery and manifestation of the inherent perfection within each child. For Ananthamurthy, genuine education empowers students to become independent learners and thinkers, urging educators to meticulously identify and cultivate essential human values like curiosity, logical reasoning, and observational prowess in their students.
The esteemed gathering also saw the presence of M.B. Shivakumar, President of Swami Vivekananda Vidya Samsthe, Professor G.R. Angadi from Kalaburagi Karnataka Central University, and Kumadvathi College Principal G.S. Shivakumar, among other prominent figures in the field of education.
