Governor Rajendra Arlekar recently launched the highly anticipated second edition of Sammohan 2025, a national festival dedicated to celebrating the incredible talents and creativity of children with special needs. The grand inauguration took place at the prestigious Different Art Centre (DAC) in Thiruvananthapuram this past Saturday.
During his address, Governor Arlekar praised the event as a profound celebration of human strength and unwavering determination. He shared his personal sentiment, stating, “These wonderful children are truly our teachers. They demonstrate the very essence of strength—how to bravely confront life’s challenges and embrace each day with optimism and resilience.”
Gopinath Muthukad, the visionary founder of the Different Art Centre, emphasized the core mission of Sammohan. He articulated that the festival embodies a shared commitment to fostering a more inclusive and understanding society for all.
This inspiring two-day extravaganza features over 200 participants from eight different states, each ready to dazzle the audience. The performances are incredibly diverse, ranging from captivating classical dance and music to engaging theatre productions, striking visual arts, and even magical acts. Each segment is carefully designed to challenge societal stereotypes and brilliantly showcase the remarkable abilities of children with special needs. This year’s lineup proudly includes national award-winning artists, participants from various special schools, and numerous disability organizations, all contributing to a truly memorable experience.
Looking ahead, the organizers have already announced the dates for the third edition of this heartwarming festival, scheduled for September 26 and 27 of next year.
