In a significant development for Hyderabad’s law enforcement, senior IPS officer V.C. Sajjanar officially assumed the prestigious role of Commissioner of Hyderabad Police on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. He steps into the position vacated by C.V. Anand, who has transitioned to the Special Chief Secretary for the Home Department. These key transfers and appointments of IPS officers were recently orchestrated by the Telangana government.
Addressing the media during a press conference held at the Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) in Hyderabad, Commissioner Sajjanar reflected on his previous tenure as Cyberabad Police Commissioner. He expressed optimism for continued public cooperation in his new challenging role.
During his address, Mr. Sajjanar emphasized his commitment to a ‘people welfare police’ approach. He detailed key areas of focus, including the pervasive issue of drug menace, ensuring women’s safety, tackling economic offenses, combating cybercrimes, addressing food adulteration, and managing urban traffic challenges. He specifically highlighted plans to strengthen the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and foster enhanced coordination with anti-narcotics units in other states to collectively combat the drug trade.
