Kerala’s State Election Commission officially began the crucial process of revising its electoral rolls on Monday, September 29, 2025, in preparation for the upcoming 2025 local body elections. On this very first day, an impressive surge of public participation was observed, with over 2,200 applications submitted for voter enrollment.
By 4 p.m. on the opening day, a detailed breakdown revealed significant activity: 2,285 applications were specifically for adding new names to the voter list, while 83 requests were made for corrections to existing entries. Additionally, 266 applications sought transposition, allowing voters to shift their registration from one electoral ward to another, and 69 applications were processed for removing names from the rolls.
The foundation for this revision is the final electoral roll that was initially published on September 2. This comprehensive draft currently accounts for a total of 2,83,12,458 voters across Kerala. The demographic breakdown shows 1,49,59,235 women, 1,33,52,947 men, and 276 transgender individuals registered to vote.
For public convenience, the draft electoral roll is readily available for review on the State Election Commission’s official website. It can also be accessed at local body offices, as well as village and taluk offices. The deadline for submitting new voter applications and making corrections is October 14. Crucially, individuals who will be 18 years old or older by January 1, 2025, are eligible to register. The complete and updated final voter list is scheduled for publication on October 25.
