Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has enthusiastically welcomed the announcement of the rural local body election schedule in Telangana. He boldly declared that the saffron party is poised to sweep these crucial polls, envisioning a significant triumph.
“We are determined to win both the Karimnagar and Sircilla Zilla Parishads in these upcoming elections,” Kumar stated, emphasizing the BJP’s ambition to write a new chapter in the state’s local governance history.
In a statement released on Monday, September 29, Mr. Sanjay heavily criticized the previous BRS government and the current Congress administration, alleging that their “misrule” has severely crippled local bodies throughout Telangana. He accused the BRS of withholding essential funds from local bodies and harassing elected sarpanches by diverting Central grants, leaving Gram Panchayats with unpaid bills.
Furthermore, he claimed that the present Congress government is mirroring its predecessor’s failures, neglecting local bodies and citing a lack of funds as an excuse.
Contrasting this, Mr. Sanjay highlighted the consistent financial support from the central government. “The Narendra Modi government at the Centre is diligently releasing funds every year under key Central schemes like MGNREGS, the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), and PM Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). Any development seen in Gram Panchayats today is a direct result of these Central funds,” he asserted.
Mr. Sanjay affirmed that the BJP’s dedicated cadres are fully prepared for the local body elections. Their strategy, he noted, involves exposing the Congress government’s failure to deliver on its six election guarantees and 420 promises, as well as shining a light on the BRS’s decade of “misrule” that, according to him, “ruined the State.”
