Across the districts of Vizianagaram and Srikakulam, heartfelt and special prayers were reverently offered to Goddess Saraswati on Monday. These sacred rituals formed a vital part of the ongoing Navaratri celebrations, drawing countless devotees to various temples.
The day held particular significance as it coincided with Mula Nakshatram, an astrological period considered highly auspicious for venerating the Goddess of learning and wisdom. This special timing prompted a massive turnout, with devotees flocking to temples and elaborately decorated Durga pandals. Many parents also brought their children to perform Aksharabhyasams, a traditional ceremony marking a child’s initiation into the world of education.
The renowned Jnana Saraswati temple on Ring Road, in particular, experienced an overwhelming influx of worshippers right from the early hours of Monday. In Vizianagaram, the Devi Navaratri Utsav committee, led by members like Karanam Ramanarao and Volli Srinu, meticulously orchestrated extensive arrangements to facilitate these special prayers at the Durgadevi pandal. Similarly, the Vinayaka Panchayatana Alayam in PN Colony, Srikakulam, radiated a festive aura. Here, hundreds of children, accompanied by their parents, eagerly participated in the Aksharabhyasams. Temple trustee P. Jaganmohana Rao personally oversaw all arrangements, ensuring that devotees could have a smooth and blessed darshan of Goddess Saraswati, enshrined within the temple premises.
