Political Firestorm: Prashant Kishor Alleges Bihar Deputy CM Lied to Supreme Court in Decades-Old Murder Case

In a startling development, Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) founder Prashant Kishor unleashed a scathing accusation on Monday, September 29, 2025, claiming that Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister, Samrat Choudhary, unlawfully evaded a murder trial from decades ago by deceptively presenting himself as a minor to the Supreme Court.

During a press conference held in Patna, Kishor highlighted a crucial discrepancy: an affidavit filed by Mr. Choudhary in 2020 during his election to the State legislative council directly contradicts his earlier plea before the Supreme Court. This, Kishor argued, demands Mr. Choudhary’s immediate removal from his position.

Attempts to reach Mr. Choudhary, who previously served as the State BJP president and currently oversees vital portfolios like Finance in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s government, for comment were unsuccessful.

Kishor further stated, “We intend to meet with the Governor tomorrow to push for Choudhary’s dismissal. We implore Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his ally, the BJP, to act swiftly, otherwise, they risk being exposed to the public.” He reiterated claims that Mr. Choudhary had faced charges in connection with the brutal murder of six individuals in his hometown of Tarapur, Munger district, back in 1995.

“He appealed to the Supreme Court, asserting he was merely 14 years old at the time of the mass murder. Consequently, he was acquitted, as juveniles could not be subjected to trial,” the Jan Suraaj Party founder explained.

“However, his 2020 affidavit declares him to be 51 years old at that time. This calculation places him in his twenties in 1995, making him fully eligible for prosecution,” Kishor contended.

Kishor emphasized the gravity of these new allegations.

“My previous accusations against the Deputy CM, regarding a D.Litt degree obtained without completing Class X, pale in comparison. I also challenge Choudhary to clarify his involvement in the notorious Shilpi-Gautam murder case, a scandal many still associate with Sadhu Yadav,” Kishor added.

The Shilpi Jain and Gautam Singh case, where the two were discovered deceased in a car in a semi-nude state in 1999, sent shockwaves through Patna. The vehicle was found near the residence of Sadhu Yadav, brother of the then Chief Minister, Rabri Devi.

Following public outcry, the case was transferred to the CBI, which concluded it as a suicide a few years later.

At that time, Mr. Choudhary held a ministerial position in the State, a role widely perceived as a reward for his father, Shakuni Choudhary, who had switched his allegiance from the Samata Party to the RJD.
