In a significant crackdown, security forces operating across Manipur’s Imphal West and East districts successfully apprehended four militants associated with various banned organizations.
These arrests were part of a coordinated effort. An active member of the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (City Meitei) was taken into custody from a residential area in Phayeng Ching Khunou, Imphal West. Authorities confirmed the seizure of a double-barrel rifle from the 34-year-old insurgent, identified as Angom Achou Singh.
Further operations led to the arrest of another KCP (Maoist) cadre, Ngairangbam Apollo Meetei (37), from his home in Napetpalli, Imphal East. Meanwhile, Md Alam Khan (34), an active cadre of the proscribed KCP (PWG) outfit, was also apprehended from Khabeisoi in Imphal East.
Additionally, security personnel arrested a PREPAK (Red Army) operative in Chanung, Imphal East district, completing the series of detentions.
Beyond the arrests, a major cache of arms and ammunition was discovered and seized during an extensive operation at Sangaithel Longa Koireng Crossing in Imphal West. The confiscated items included four single-barrel guns, one modified sniper rifle, two 9mm pistols, four magazines of various types, 120 cartridges of different calibers, three hand grenades, three detonators, fourteen helmets, and three bullet-proof plates, highlighting the scale of the threat neutralized by the security forces.
