A devastating head-on collision between two cars on the Kaithal-Kurukshetra road, just eight kilometers from Kurukshetra, claimed five lives on Monday morning, according to local police officials.
Dinesh Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Adarsh Police Station, reported that the accident occurred around 7 a.m. near Ghararsi village. Investigators suspect that excessive speed was a primary cause.
The force of the impact was so severe that both vehicles were completely mangled. Residents from the nearby area quickly responded, using tools to cut open the car doors and free the trapped victims.
One of the cars, carrying six passengers from Bubka village in Ambala, sustained catastrophic damage. Five of its occupants tragically died at the scene.
The deceased have been identified as Praveen (son of Swaraj), Pawan and Rajendra (sons of Bal Kishan), Urmila (Pawan’s wife), and Suman (Sanjay’s wife).
Eighteen-year-old Vanshika, another passenger in the same car, suffered critical injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.
Four individuals traveling in the second car also sustained injuries. They are Santosh (45), wife of Dharampal, a resident of Papanawa Jati Road; Rishipal (55), son of Karm Singh; Leela Devi (52), wife of Rishipal; and Praveen (40), son of Jita Ram. They were en route to Mulana in Ambala for a medical follow-up, as Leela Devi had recently undergone surgery.
Authorities have transported the bodies of the deceased for post-mortem examination, while all injured parties were rushed to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital for urgent care, police confirmed.
