In a significant development stemming from a tragic hit-and-run incident in Kilimanoor, Parassala Station House Officer (SHO) P. Anil Kumar was suspended from active duty on Monday. This disciplinary action follows a thorough investigation into a case where a 59-year-old daily-wage worker, identified as Rajan, was fatally struck by a vehicle a week prior.
The suspension order was issued by the Inspector General of Police, South Zone, acting on a detailed report submitted by District Police Chief (Thiruvananthapuram Rural) K.S. Sudarshan. The unfortunate event unfolded during the early hours of September 7 near Chennikuzhy. Critically, the inquiry revealed that the police officer, whose vehicle was involved in the collision, not only failed to provide immediate assistance to the injured Rajan but also neglected to report the incident promptly, which could have ensured timely medical intervention. The victim was later discovered deceased by passersby, underscoring the severity of the alleged dereliction of duty.
