Following India’s triumphant win in the recently concluded Asia Cup, Captain Suryakumar Yadav has made a remarkable gesture, announcing that he will donate his entire match fee from the tournament to two crucial causes: supporting the country’s Armed Forces and aiding the victims of the tragic Pahalgam terror attack.
India secured the prestigious trophy on Sunday, September 28, 2025, after a compelling five-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in the final match held in Dubai.
Yadav expressed his heartfelt commitment in a public statement: “I have decided to donate my match fees from this tournament to support our Armed Forces and the families of the victims who suffered from the Pahalgam terror attack. You always remain in my thoughts. Jai Hind.”
Adding to the celebrations, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also announced a significant prize money of ₹21 crore for the Asia Cup-winning Indian team and its dedicated support staff.
However, the victory celebration was tinged with an unusual circumstance. Suryakumar Yadav openly voiced his surprise and disappointment regarding the Indian team not being presented with the Asia Cup trophy on the stage. He remarked, “I have never seen this before, a winning team not receiving the trophy.” He underscored the lasting impact of their achievement, adding, “When the game is done, only champions will be remembered and not a picture of a trophy.”
Emphasizing his pride in his squad, Yadav concluded with a powerful message: “For me, my players and support staff are the real trophies.”
