Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav proudly announced that Andhra Pradesh has achieved an impressive 10.80% Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth rate. This figure significantly outpaces the national GDP growth of 8.80%, a success he attributes to the collective efforts of everyone involved. Keshav underscored the critical need to maintain this strong economic performance in the coming years to realize the “Swarna Andhra – 2047” vision for a golden Andhra Pradesh.
During the inaugural session of the Collectors’ Conference at the Secretariat on Monday, Mr. Keshav highlighted Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership, describing him as a driving force with innovative ideas and boundless energy. He urged the Collectors, especially the new and young officers, to learn from the Chief Minister by staying connected with citizens. This direct engagement, he noted, is essential for understanding and addressing people’s needs, ultimately leading to higher satisfaction levels. Keshav strongly advised the Collectors to prioritize meticulous planning—an often-overlooked yet vital component for achieving developmental objectives—while consistently keeping public welfare at the forefront of their efforts.
A Transparent and People-Centric Revenue System
Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad outlined the government’s commitment to establishing a user-friendly revenue system. He stressed that the successful implementation of this system largely depends on the diligence of Collectors at the district level. Mr. Prasad highlighted the recent enactment of a special law designed to prevent land grabbing and the stringent measures being introduced to curb irregularities in the allocation of freehold lands. A dedicated Group of Ministers has been formed to thoroughly examine these issues and propose effective governmental actions. The Minister also emphasized the goal of completing land registrations efficiently, aiming for a 15-minute turnaround time, provided all necessary documents are submitted.
Elaborating on the Revenue Department’s various initiatives, Mr. Prasad urged Collectors to ensure that industrial lands are utilized strictly for their designated purposes. This, he noted, is crucial for fostering employment generation and driving overall economic growth within the state.
Introducing a Robust Hybrid Health Insurance Scheme
Health Minister Y. Satya Kumar announced the government’s recent approval of a new hybrid health insurance scheme. This extensive program is set to cover 1.63 crore families, offering an annual insurance coverage of ₹2.50 lakh per family and access to 324 distinct medical services. For families already enrolled under the existing Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva scheme, the government will cover medical expenses exceeding ₹2.50 lakh, up to a generous limit of ₹25 lakh. He also addressed past criticisms, refuting the previous YSR Congress Party government’s claims regarding the establishment of medical colleges, stating they were exaggerated.
