A significant national seminar recently held at Madeenathul Uloom Arabic College in Pulikkal highlighted the immense potential of the Arabic language and its rich literature to foster meaningful dialogue and contribute to global peace, even amidst escalating conflicts worldwide.
This insightful two-day event, titled ‘War and Peace in Modern Arabic Literature,’ was a collaborative effort involving the Kerala State Higher Education Council, the Department of Arabic at Calicut University, and the Department of Arabic at Amal College of Advanced Studies.
The seminar was inaugurated by Musheer Husain Siddiqui, a distinguished educationalist and former head of the Department of Arabic and Arab Culture at Lucknow University. Basheer M., Principal of Madeenathul Uloom Arabic College, presided over the opening ceremony, while K.A. Abdul Haseeb Madani, Principal of Assabah Arabic College, Pavittapuram, delivered a compelling keynote address.
A highlight of the event was Dr. Siddiqui’s release of the Arabic translation of the renowned late Malayalam actor Innocent’s poignant memoir, Cancer Wardile Chiri (Laughter in the Cancer Ward). This significant translation was undertaken by researcher Yusuf Sahib Nadvi.
Several notable personalities shared their perspectives during the seminar, including T.P. Abdul Razak Baqawi, Principal of Jamia Salafiya Arabic College, Pulikkal; Muneer Madani, Head of the Arabic Department at MUA College, Pulikkal; Sabir Navas C.M., Research Centre Coordinator at MUA College, Pulikkal; Alijafar C.H., Head of the Arabic Department at Amal College of Advanced Studies, Nilambur; Mohammed Favas K., Principal of Anvarul Islam Arabic College, Kuniyil; Nishadali V., programme coordinator; and Moideenkutty Kallara, an assistant professor from Government Arts and Science College, Malappuram.
The valedictory session, scheduled for Tuesday, September 16, will be inaugurated by MP P.V. Abdul Wahab, with College Correspondent T.P. Abdullakoya Madani presiding.
