The National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit of Puthenkavu Metropolitan Higher Secondary School recently spearheaded a significant cleanup drive along the historic Pampa River. Held in observance of World Rivers Day, this impactful initiative was a proud part of the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan, a nationwide campaign dedicated to the cleanliness and preservation of India’s precious water bodies.
Complementing the hands-on cleanup, the school also hosted a ‘Sneha Haritha’ gathering. This special assembly was meticulously designed to cultivate greater environmental awareness within the community, emphasizing the vital role rivers play in our ecosystem and the urgent need for their sustained conservation. The event was officially inaugurated by the school’s esteemed headmaster, Sibi Varghese.
Throughout the day, dedicated NCC cadets diligently collected plastic waste and other debris, working tirelessly to restore the pristine beauty of the riverbanks and the immediate riverfront. To further engage students and ignite their passion for nature, a drawing competition is planned with the thoughtful theme, ‘Nature, My Mother,’ encouraging young minds to express their connection to the natural world through art.
