Mysuru is currently experiencing an exhilarating boom in tourism, with nearly all hotels reporting full occupancy between September 27 and October 2, 2025. The city’s hospitality sector is absolutely thrilled!
This heightened visitor influx is typical during the latter half of the 11-day Dasara festival. It’s not just Mysuru; even hotels in the surrounding areas are completely booked for this festive stretch.
C. Narayana Gowda, representing the Mysuru Hotel Owners Association, confirms that hotels within a 3-kilometer radius of the iconic palace are entirely full, while other parts of the city are seeing a solid 90% occupancy.
Interestingly, despite the Dasara festival kicking off on September 22, tourist arrivals were relatively subdued until September 26. The association noted a slower-than-usual business during these initial five days.
Local restaurants, in particular, experienced a significant 50% dip in their usual earnings, largely due to the widespread Dasara Food Festival.
Mr. Gowda explained that the sheer number of food stalls dotted across various Dasara venues – including the Flower Show, Yuva Dasara, and the Exhibition grounds, as well as other cultural event locations – diverted patrons from traditional restaurants.
“With hundreds of enticing food stalls scattered throughout the city, regular restaurant business became almost negligible during that initial five-day period,” stated Mr. Gowda.
However, come September 27, the trickle of visitors transformed into a mighty wave. Mysuru saw a massive influx of tourists, with many even making day trips from Bengaluru.
“From September 27 to October 2, hotels in central Mysuru have achieved a phenomenal 100% occupancy rate,” the association reported. “Bookings poured in from online platforms, travel agencies, and direct walk-ins, showcasing the festival’s widespread appeal.”
Thankfully, restaurants also witnessed a significant rebound in business starting September 27. Hotels situated along the Outer Ring Road and in other city localities are now reporting approximately 80% occupancy, with only a few rooms remaining available.
With a capacity of 180 to 200 hotels offering around 8,000 rooms, Mysuru caters to every kind of traveler, from budget-conscious explorers to luxury seekers. The Dasara festival consistently marks a peak season for the hospitality industry, and this year’s fantastic response bodes exceptionally well for the rest of the tourism period, which typically runs until the first week of February.
