The Centre of Excellence for Teaching Learning & Training (CETLT), an initiative of the Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC), recently partnered with Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) to host an impactful five-day faculty training program. Held from September 23 to 27, this intensive workshop saw forty dedicated educators from the university and various colleges across Kerala participate, all eager to embrace the future of higher education.
This essential training was designed to empower university and college teachers for the seamless implementation of the new Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP). The primary goal was to ensure that the curriculum’s broader objectives and credit framework are fully realized. Throughout the sessions, a strong emphasis was placed on Outcome-Based Education (OBE), delving into critical areas such as curriculum redesign, establishing clear, measurable learning outcomes, and developing student-centric assessment methods. Participants also received comprehensive instruction in digital pedagogy, exploring modern technology-enabled teaching tools, innovative blended learning techniques, and dynamic classroom strategies.
During the valedictory address, Rajan Varughese, the esteemed member secretary of KSHEC, announced exciting plans for the future. He confirmed that KSHEC intends to expand this vital initiative to all districts within Kerala. This expansion aims to guarantee that every single university and college teacher across the state receives structured, high-quality training in both Outcome-Based Education and digital pedagogy, ensuring a consistent and elevated standard of teaching statewide.
