Bengaluru’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah delivered a stern warning on Saturday, making it crystal clear that newly appointed corporation commissioners and chief engineers will face direct consequences for any failures in waste management within their designated areas.
“We’ve observed significant piles of garbage left neglected on various roadsides. Clear instructions have been given for the immediate removal of all waste. Should these orders not be followed, relevant commissioners and engineers will be held accountable,” stated Mr. Siddaramaiah. His remarks came just before he commenced a city-wide inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects.
During his rounds, the Chief Minister was dismayed to discover construction debris that had been accumulating for years, now overgrown with weeds reaching human height. He sharply reprimanded officials for their gross negligence, demanding to know why such a situation was allowed to persist. Upon encountering additional unauthorized dumpsites, he reiterated his directive for prompt clearance and emphasized the urgent need to install CCTV cameras to effectively combat and prevent future instances of illegal waste disposal.
