The South Central Railway (SCR) recently brought together young talent from various schools for a captivating ‘cultural festival and art exhibition with waste material.’ This lively event was a key part of the ongoing ‘Swachhata Hi Seva – 2025’ campaign, held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, to promote a cleaner future.
Students from esteemed institutions like Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, ICON Public School, Jack and Jill English Medium School, and Bharat Scouts and Guides took center stage. They delivered powerful performances and presented innovative artworks that highlighted crucial themes such as ‘Clean and Green,’ ‘Hygiene,’ ‘Swachhata’ (cleanliness), and the importance of ‘Good Habits.’ Their creative expressions aimed to inspire and educate attendees on environmental responsibility and personal well-being.
The festival was graced by prominent figures including Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Mohit Sonakiya, Additional DRM (Operations) Srinivas Rao Konda, and other senior departmental officers. Beyond the student presentations, attendees were treated to an impressive display of models crafted by the dedicated officers and staff of the Diesel Loco Shed (DLS), Vijayawada. These intricate creations included a detailed Vande Bharat train model, a majestic life-size horse, a replica of the iconic Godavari Railway Bridge, Kakinada Carriage, a Charkha, a Peacock, a Cat, and many other fascinating pieces made from scrap materials. The event also offered students a unique opportunity to visit the Wagon Workshop and observe how scrap materials are ingeniously repurposed.
