Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau Nabs Two Officials in Separate Bribery Cases, Recovers Over ₹3.5 Lakh

In a significant crackdown on illicit activities within public service, the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has successfully apprehended two government officials in separate bribery incidents across the Medchal-Malkajgiri and Mancherial districts. These decisive operations led to the recovery of a combined bribe amount exceeding ₹3.5 lakh.

The first case involved Chintala Radha Krishna Reddy, the Town Planning Officer for Yellampet Municipality in Medchal-Malkajgiri district. He was targeted by the ACB City Range Unit-2 following allegations of demanding and accepting a substantial bribe. Reddy had initially sought ₹5 lakh from a complainant to prevent the demolition of a compound wall and gates of a private layout, using official pretexts. After an earlier payment of ₹1.5 lakh, the remaining ₹3.5 lakh was recovered from him during a meticulously planned trap. Reddy has since been taken into custody and remanded to judicial custody, with a thorough investigation ongoing.

A second major arrest was made by the ACB Adilabad unit in Mancherial district. Banoth Durga Prasad, a Technical Assistant (Outsourcing) associated with the MPDO office in Kannepalli, was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹10,000. This payment was allegedly for the purpose of sanctioning a bill and diligently recording pending MB entries related to a newly constructed cattle shed belonging to the complainant in Lingapur village, a project falling under the MGNREGS scheme. The illicit funds were immediately seized, and Prasad was produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases in Karimnagar.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau reiterates its commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in government. They strongly urge members of the public to report any demands for bribes from government officials. This can be done confidentially through their toll-free helpline 1064, or via popular digital platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, and X. The ACB assures all complainants that their identities will be kept strictly confidential, fostering an environment where whistleblowers can come forward without fear.
