A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Kurnool city on Monday, September 15, when a school wall tragically collapsed, claiming the life of a five-year-old boy and injuring ten other students.
Preliminary reports indicate that the young student, identified as Raqib, along with several classmates, was gathered near the wall for morning prayers when the structure suddenly gave way. The force of the collapse resulted in immediate casualties and injuries. Emergency services swiftly transported the injured students to a nearby hospital, where young Raqib was tragically pronounced dead.
In response to the devastating news, Human Resources Development (HRD) Minister Nara Lokesh conveyed his deep sorrow and immediately instructed district officials to ensure that all injured children receive the highest quality medical care. Furthermore, he issued a directive emphasizing the critical need for private school managements to rigorously implement and adhere to all safety protocols, while also extending assurances of support to Raqib’s grieving family.
Adding to the wave of shock and grief, Industries and Commerce Minister T. G. Bharath, who represents the Kurnool Assembly Constituency, expressed his profound distress over the student’s death. He confirmed that a comprehensive inquiry would be launched to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the wall’s collapse and to prevent such tragedies in the future.
