Kerala has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first state in India to launch the ‘Ksheerasree’ online portal, announced J. Chinchu Rani, the Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of the Thrissur District Dairy Conference’s public meeting in Vellangallur on Friday, where Minister Chinchu Rani highlighted the state’s commitment to advancing its dairy industry.
The government is actively rolling out numerous initiatives designed to draw younger generations into the dairy farming profession. Future plans also include a comprehensive insurance scheme for every cow across the district. Additionally, the establishment of dedicated cattle parks will empower farmers to raise superior quality breeds, propelling the dairy sector to unprecedented levels of growth and productivity.
Minister Rani further emphasized the vital assistance dairy farmers are currently receiving through the Dairy Welfare Fund Board. She proudly noted that Kerala holds the second position nationally in milk production efficiency, a testament to its robust dairy practices.
In a strategic move to boost technological advancements, Kerala is set to partner with Punjab. This collaboration will focus on critical areas such as the production and distribution of semen, the exchange of high-genetic-value cattle and bulls, advanced genetic selection and evaluation, innovative embryo transfer technologies, and sophisticated artificial insemination methods. This alliance is expected to significantly enhance Kerala’s expertise and technological capacity in animal husbandry.
The successful District Dairy Meet was a collaborative effort, organized by the Dairy Development Department, various local self-government bodies, dairy cooperatives, Kerala Feeds, Milma, and several other key stakeholders within the sector. A highlight of the event was the recognition and honoring of the district’s most successful dairy farmers.
The conference proceedings were overseen by Sudha Dileep, the president of Vellangallur block panchayat, while Shalini Gopinath, the Director of Dairy Development, provided a detailed presentation on the functionalities and benefits of the new Ksheerasree portal.
