A wave of profound religious joy swept through Tirumala on Friday as the ‘Simha Vahanam’ procession captivated thousands on the third day of the annual Brahmotsavams at the revered Lord Venkateswara temple.
Lord Malayappa, the magnificent processional deity, became the absolute center of attention. Adorned with an exquisite collection of rare and precious jewels, and seated serenely in a meditative posture, the Lord mesmerized devotees who had patiently lined the mada streets, eager for a glimpse of this divine spectacle.
The grand procession was a vibrant tapestry of faith and culture. Numerous bhajan and cultural troupes enthusiastically led the way, their performances setting a festive tone. Following closely were esteemed Sri Vaishnavite scholars, guided by the senior and junior pontiffs of the temple, adding to the spiritual grandeur.
Over 500 talented artists, hailing from more than nine different states, enchanted the eager crowds with their diverse cultural, mythological, and folk dance presentations, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.
Earlier in the day, a significant literary event unfolded. TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal officially launched four new books: ‘The Quintessence of Rig Veda – An Introduction’ by Sri Vasudeva Rao, ‘Srihari Bhakta Vijayam’ by Dr. Narsam Narasimha Charya, and ‘Ananda Nilayam’ by Dr. S. S. Lee, with a special Kannada edition of the latter.
Preparations for the upcoming Garuda Seva on September 28 were also a key focus. Joint Executive Officer Veerabhramam held a meeting with various sectoral and senior officials, urging them to identify and promptly address any deficiencies in the galleries, ensuring a seamless experience for pilgrims. Tirupati SP L. Subbarayudu also reviewed the security arrangements for Garuda Seva, emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance and a more pilgrim-centric approach to policing.
The day concluded with another breathtaking display: the ‘Muthyapandiri Vahanam’ procession. In this event, the deity was carried on a palanquin intricately decorated with pristine white pearls and further embellished with an array of rare gemstones and other splendid jewels, bringing a fitting end to a day of divine celebration.
